How We Work With Asian Fund Managers

Every manager’s Australian journey starts somewhere. Some begin with a single introduction. Others are ready to run a roadshow. A few want a fully-staffed local presence from day one. We work with you at whatever stage you are at, and grow with you as your ambitions in the Australian market evolve.

Our Focus Areas

To market a fund to Australian investors, an offshore fund manager must either hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or appoint a licensed local representative. APAC Financial Services holds AFSL No. 540418, which authorises us to act as your licensed local representative, allowing you to market legally and compliantly to Australian wholesale and institutional investors from day one.

MARKET POSITIONING

We assess your fund’s fit for the Australian market, identify the most relevant investor segments, and develop a tailored positioning narrative, including how to present your strategy, track record, and team to Australian institutions.

INVESTOR-INTRODUCTIONS

We leverage our network to arrange direct meetings and roadshows with qualified institutional investors. All introductions are warm, pre-qualified, and relevant to your strategy.

FULL AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATION

For managers ready to build a sustained presence in Australia, we offer a comprehensive on-the-ground support service that can be tailored to your stage of development. This goes well beyond distribution and can include any or all of the following:

  • Acting as your licensed local representative under our AFSL (No. 540418), allowing you to market legally to Australian wholesale and institutional investors from day one
  • Organising and running investor roadshows, warm, pre-qualified, and tailored to your strategy
  • Providing a Sydney office address and ongoing administrative support
  • Recruiting a local General Manager or Business Development Manager on your behalf, should you wish to establish your own Australian team
  • Supporting your application for your own Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL), including acting as or assisting in sourcing a Responsible Officer
  • Ongoing investor relations, industry event representation, and compliance support

Not every manager will need all of these. Many will start with a roadshow and grow from there. We are structured to support you at every step of that journey.

Complementary Service

OUTSOURCED DUE DILIGENCE – SOUTHEAST ASIAN INVESTMENT TARGETS

Australian institutional investors considering investment into Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, or China, whether into infrastructure assets, local companies, or funds and fund managers, face a common problem: APRA requires rigorous operational due diligence before any external investment is made, but Australian institutions typically lack the on-the-ground presence to conduct it independently in SE Asian markets.

APAC Financial Services provides outsourced due diligence through a network of specialist on-the-ground partners across Southeast Asia. We conduct fieldwork in-country, site visits, management interviews, document review, regulatory standing, and co-sign every report under our AFSL, giving the commissioning Australian institution a layer of Australian-regulated oversight. Coverage currently begins in the Philippines and will expand to other SE Asian markets as our partner network grows. This service can be engaged as a standalone mandate or as part of a broader investment facilitation relationship with APAC Financial Services.
